Vibeke Zoffmann (VZ) is head of the research department of Women’s and Children’s Health, JMC, at Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet, Denmark.
Through her grounded theory studies in difficult diabetes care, VZ has explained barriers to empowerment in patient-provider relationships. Based on the theories and participatory research VZ developed an empowerment-based decision-making and problem-solving method, Guided Self-Determination which is able to overcome the barriers and effective in the care of people with long-term conditions.
