Transitioning from BD Diabetes Care to embecta

Introduction
BD has been a trusted name in insulin delivery for over 100 years, starting with the creation of the very first insulin syringe in 1924. Today, embecta (formerly BD Diabetes Care) is continuing that legacy of innovation, education and advocacy¹.

As part of the brand transition from BD Diabetes Care to embecta, BD pen needles and insulin syringes are now part of embecta – a global diabetes care company. With this change, we are excited to introduce new embecta packaging.
Rest assured, these are the same products with the same manufacturing and quality standards, now brought to you by embecta. NDSS codes will remain the same. To learn more about ordering embecta products from the NDSS portal, please refer to the official product announcement.

Action you need to take to ensure a smooth transition
- Continue to recommend and/or dispense BD branded pen needles and insulin syringe until stock is depleted before transitioning to embecta branded products as they become available through supply channels. When doing so, please reassure clients that it is the same product, with a new look.
- Visit our ANZ Transition Resource Centre at embecta-transition.com.au to:
- track the rollout of embecta branded pen needles and syringes with the live product tracker
- access communication materials for your team including embecta branded images and product information to understand the packaging transition as a healthcare professional to assist you with addressing any queries from your clients
- access English and multilingual flyers for your clients to learn more about what is new or changing as part of the transition to embecta branded products
Timing for transition will vary across the portfolio and therefore you will see both BD branded and embecta branded product for a period of time.
