Diabetes Service Nurse Manager, St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney , NSW
Gael is a Registered Nurse, CDE and is the current Nurse Manager of St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. Gael has worked in diabetes for the past 14years and over this time has worked mostly with individuals with Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes and GDM. In 2014 was awarded JDRF achievement award in Excellence and Innovation for establishing a Multidisciplinary Transition Service within a metropolitan hospital. Gael has previously been a lead author in the following journal article in ADEA Diabetes Educator Hypoglycaemia in a hospital setting: a hyper problem and co author Journal of General Internal Medicine , Interpreter Provision and Hospital- Associated Outcomes within the Limited English Proficiency Population: Analysis of Administrative Data. At the National ADS/ADEA conference Gael has presented multiple times with a keen interest in Pancreatectomy and Diabetes management, Continuous Glucose Monitoring and Type 2 diabetes. Of recent in the nurse manager role at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney her role involves operational management of the services with the diabetes department enhancing its outreach and diabetes mental health services.
