Clinical dietitian and diabetes educator, Redfern AMS
Shannon Lin, a senior dietitian and a diabetes educator who speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and English with about 15 years of experiences in diabetes management. She now works for the Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) Redfern as a clinical dietitian/diabetes educator, while coordinating and lecturing for the Postgraduate Certificate in Diabetes Management and Education at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). She is one of the leading diabetes health professionals in the multicultural diabetes education in Australia with her pioneer work in health literacy in CALD communities. She is also working towards the completion of her PhD study in this area. Shannon has been sitting at various diabetes working parties including the state and national conference organising committees and the CALD Expert Reference Group from Diabetes Australia and NDSS. Her work in diabetes and multicultural communities has been highly recognised both nationally and internationally. In 2017, she was awarded by the International Endocrinology Society Travel Grant. Till 2020, she has educated over 50,000 diabetes professionals in China at different conferences and workshops, while been nominated by ADEA since 2018 to represent the ADEA in China.
